Washing (gentle + moisturizing)
1) Mild Shampoo (Sulfate-Free)
Use a gentle, sulfate-free shampoo to remove buildup without stripping curl moisture.
Look for: “Sulfate-Free,” “Moisturizing,” “Curl-Safe,” “Gentle Cleanse”
Avoid: harsh clarifying shampoos too often (they can dry curls)
When to wash:
A good conditioner helps detangle and keeps curls soft.
Look for: “Hydrating,” “Detangling,” “Slip,” “Curl Conditioner”Tip: Apply conditioner mostly to mid-lengths and ends, not the roots/cap.
Use a deep conditioner when the hair feels dry or frizzy.
How often: every 2–4 washes
Tip: Let it sit 10–20 minutes, then rinse with cool water to help seal moisture.
Styling (definition without heaviness)
4) Curling Cream (Define + Moisturize)
Curl cream is your best friend for kinky-curly/coily textures.
Use it for: definition, softness, less frizz
How to use: apply to damp hair, smooth downward, then scrunch.
5) Mousse (Light Hold + Volume)
Mousse is great for refresh days because it’s light and helps curls bounce back.
Use it for: shaping curls, reducing frizz, adding light hold
How to use: apply on damp hair, scrunch, then air dry or diffuse on low heat.
? Best combo for curls: Curl Cream (base) + Mousse (top layer)
Optional (but helpful)
6) Leave-In Conditioner
A lightweight leave-in keeps curls moisturized between washes.
Tip: Start small—too much can cause buildup.
7) Light Oil or Serum (Seal ends only)
Use a tiny amount on the ends to reduce dryness and add shine.
Avoid heavy oils that weigh curls down or cause buildup.
